About Me
I’m Ruud Harreman. IT enthousiast and currently working for ITQ in the Netherlands. In my spare time I like to exercise sports (crossfit and running). This gives me some balance and it gets me out of the house on a daily basis, which is a good thing considering all the work-from-home hours in my mostly sitting occupation. My other hobby is BBQ-ing, where I like to cook for friends and family. On the weekends we like to go out with the kids to the forest. We like camping, although we are a bit cheating, because of our caravan so it’s not camping in the purest form.
I started in IT a “few” years back. My first “real” job was at a truck dealership (DAF!). That’s still the reason I like to play Euro Truck Simulator. From there, I got a job in a Hospital as a Unix admin. I spent a few years building bash script/maintenance on different HP-UX systems. I learned a lot from an old Unix admin, but changed to VMware before I became a bittered admin (I hope).
After a few more years, I decided it was time for the next step and I got a transition to a system integrator which mostly works for hospitals. After that, my VMware knowledge took a big leap. After a few years of being mentored I got the oppertunity to do a few VMware SDDC implementations and the following years I became a source of information for new and current colleagues.
The last few years I was a bit further away from technique and more involved in (people/project) management and customer relations. Although it was an interesting sidestep. I recently started working at ITQ as a IT Consultant and deep dived back in the technique :).
Best regards,
Ruud
